Arctic Highways – Unbounded Indigenous People
Group exhibition · 2022–2026
Arctic Highways is an international travelling exhibition bringing together the work of eleven Indigenous artists from Sápmi, Canada and Alaska. The exhibition explores Indigenous culture, identity and contemporary life across the Arctic, challenging the borders that have divided people, territories and communities. Britta Marakatt-Labba is one of the participating artists and one of the exhibition’s four curators, together with Tomas Colbengtson, Gunvor Guttorm and Dan Jåma. The exhibition brings together contemporary art and duodji, including embroidery, sculpture, photography, film and other forms of artistic expression.

Exhibition Tour
Arctic Highways began its international tour at House of Sweden in Washington, D.C. in 2022 and subsequently travelled to venues across the United States, Canada, Sweden and Norway. Among the venues were Scandinavia House in New York, the National Nordic Museum in Seattle and the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.
Sjungaregården, Granö
From June 15, 2026, Arctic Highways has been presented as a permanent group exhibition at Sjungaregården in Granö, Sweden.
The exhibition is scheduled to continue to Bodø, Norway, later in 2026.
