Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo acquires the sculpture "Urmodern"
Astrup Fearnley Museet has acquired Britta Marakatt-Labba's large sculpture Urmodern (“The Primordial Mother”), bronze and granite, 224 × 112 × 102 cm, 2024. Urmodern is rooted in Sámi mythology, in which every stone, plant, and body of water carries its own spirit. Britta Marakatt-Labba is appointed Honorary Doctor
The University of Tromsø, The Arctic University of Norway, has appointed four new honorary doctors, one of whom is Britta Marakatt-Labba. Marakatt-Labba's most famous work, Historjá , is located at UiT Campus in Tromsø; it has been loaned out several times to both world biennials and other prestigious museums. The award will be presented on March 25, 2026, and in connection with this, the honorary doctors will give a guest lecture that will also be streamed here . Britta Mara

TATE acquires works by Britta Marakatt-Labba
