Britta Marakatt-Labba’s Stitched Tracks was the first solo exhibition of her work in a German-speaking country. The exhibition brought together around sixty textile works spanning five decades of her practice, from early works to recent productions.

Stitched Tracks

The exhibition presented Marakatt-Labba’s distinctive embroidered narratives, exploring Sámi history, mythology, everyday life and the relationship between people and the natural environment. Her works also addressed the ongoing effects of colonialism, resource extraction and ecological destruction on Sámi land and ways of life.

Through thousands of carefully placed stitches, Marakatt-Labba created landscapes and narratives in which silence, empty space and intricate detail became central elements of her visual language.

The exhibition was curated by Stefanie Böttcher and Marlène Harles.
