Britta Marakatt-Labba is appointed Honorary Doctor

The University of Tromsø, The Arctic University of Norway, has appointed four new honorary doctors, one of whom is Britta Marakatt-Labba.

Marakatt-Labba's most famous work, Historjá, is located at UiT Campus in Tromsø; it has been loaned out several times to both world biennials and other prestigious museums.

The award will be presented on March 25, 2026, and in connection with this, the honorary doctors will give a guest lecture that will also be streamed here.

Britta Marakatt-Labba has been appointed honorary doctor before. In 2014, she was appointed at the Faculty of Humanities at Umeå University, in 2022 at the University of Bergen, and in 2025 at Oslo Metropolitan University.
