A TIME FOR EVERYTHING
25 YEARS OF CONTEMPORARY ART AT SCANDINAVIA HOUSE
Scandinavia House, NYC, USA
October 2025 - February 2026
The exhibition is organized in connection with the 25th anniversary of the cultural center, which has received over 3 million visitors since its opening in October 2000. It displays works of internationally renowned nordic artists – all of which have exhibited at the Scandinavia House Galleries the past 25 years – and highlights the role of the galleries as platforms, for both established as well as new nordic voices within the modern art scene. Another central part of the exhibition is to promote the exchange of ideas and culture between the United States and the Nordic countries.
Amongst the participating artists is the Sámi artist Britta Marakatt-Labba, who exhibits the work Shadows and Reflections.

Figures walk across the land, silent as the wind. Beneath them, shadows stretch deep into the ground – like memories, like voices from the earth.
Fences and fractures run between worlds. The mine has left its mark – a wound in the mountain, an intrusion into both landscape and life. Here, the visible and the invisible meet: humanity, history, resistance.
With needle and thread, Britta Marakatt-Labba embroiders a story of place, memory, and division – where every stitch carries both sorrow and strength.
