The Echo of the Underground

Britta Marakatt-Labba’s exhibition The Echo of the Underground presented new embroidered works exploring the relationship between people, land and the forces beneath the earth. Drawing on Sámi perspectives, mythology and storytelling, the exhibition reflected on mining, environmental change and the traces left by human intervention in the landscape.

The Echo of the Underground

The exhibition brought together works that moved between mythology, history and contemporary environmental concerns. Through embroidery. and sculpture Marakatt-Labba explored what lies beneath the surface of the earth and the consequences of its exploitation. Among the works presented were Dubbelspår / Double Tracks (2024) and Ut ur mörkret / Out of the Darkness (2023).
